Elk CreameryElk Creamery is California’s Only USDA Certified Organic goat dairy. Our diversified farm is also certified Biodynamic. Employing traditional European methods we hand make all of our cheeses in small batches with our own milk making our cheese truly artisanal and farmstead.
The rugged Mendocino coast offers us the perfect climate with cool summers and drifting fog. This provides the right forage mixes for our goats as they graze on the hillsides overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
All of these factors combined creates the perfect opportunity to make a rich and flavorful mold ripened cheese for our customers enjoyment.
We've been making artisan, farmstead cheese commercially in this glorious setting for a little over three years, starting with delicious fresh chèvre and various herbed chèvres and then mold-ripened cheeses.
We also make feta and a limited quantity of aged cheeses for our farmers' market customers; and we are always experimenting with new and distinctive cheeses for wider distribution.
